Don't Forget

  • The Pilgrim’s Way is a lengthy and in places challenging walk.
  • Weather in North Wales is sometimes unpredictable.
  • Walkers must take responsibility for their own fitness and health.
  • Although we are working on a programme of replacing stiles with gates, you will cross a lot of stiles during the walk.
  • We work on the principles of the countryside code – courtesy to others, how to deal with livestock, shutting gates, avoiding litter etc. Check it on The Countryside Code - GOV.UK
  • We do our best to keep the route and waymarking in good order, but over such a distance, problems arise each year. Please let us know about any difficulties you encounter with the route.
  • We cannot be held responsible for accidents, unforeseen diversions, path obstructions etc.
  • You should be familiar with map-reading. The official guidebook has clear guidance and mapping, but you may still wish to obtain maps.
  • Mobile phone reception is poor in some sections of the route.
  • The NWPW is now marked on new Ordnance survey maps. It is worthwhile getting the Ordnance Survey app on your phone. While you have WiFi access, download the map relating to each day’s walk before you start. The GPS positioning system comes from satellite, so even if your phone has no signal, you can readily see where you are in relation to the NWPW.
  • You may wish to take a back-up battery pack for your phone.
